Tense moments were witnessed in the Turkish parliament on Tuesday when an MP suffered a sudden heart attack and collapsed on the floor. During a speech criticizing Israel and the war in Gaza, 53-year-old Hasan Peitmaz suddenly fell to the ground, hitting his head on the marble. Those in the chamber quickly rushed to his aid.
One of the doctors present at the session provided first aid and performed cardiac massage, according to Turkish media. The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Gulizar Becher Karaja, paused the session for 20 minutes, and Peitmaz was taken out and transported to the hospital by ambulance.
He received two stents in his coronary arteries, but it is believed that he is in critical condition. Peitmaz, who holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Felicity Party, also suffers from diabetes.
