A 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia's Java Island. The American Institute of Geophysics reported that "the earthquake registered a magnitude of 6.1 and was felt by residents of the capital, Jakarta, who evacuated buildings, as did residents of the nearby city of Bandung."
