The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, has instructed the relevant departments in the ministry to file a complaint with the United Nations Security Council through Lebanon's permanent mission to the United Nations in New York. This comes in response to a series of Israeli attacks considered among the most severe, on March 11 and 12, 2024, which targeted civilians in residential areas around the city of Baalbek and nearby villages, resulting in casualties and injuries among unarmed civilians. What raises further concern is that this escalation is occurring in areas far from the southern Lebanese border, indicating Israel's desire to expand the conflict and draw the entire region into a war that could be sparked by such aggressive actions, potentially transforming into a regional war that the Israeli government may seek as a lifeline from its internal crisis. Based on the above, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants urges the international community to pressure Israel to stop its continuous and escalating attacks, and once again demands that the members of the Security Council collectively condemn the Israeli aggressions against Lebanon and work towards the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006) to achieve enduring stability and security along Lebanon's southern borders.
