The number of teams participating in the 25th Arab Championship, scheduled to take place in Cairo from December 26 to January 3, has increased to ten: Egypt, the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Libya, Mauritania, and Somalia. Major General M. Ismail Al-Qarqaoui, president of the Arab and UAE Basketball Federations, stated, "The tournament was postponed twice to avoid conflicting with the West Asia qualifiers and to ensure the required success," emphasizing that it "will be a golden opportunity for everyone to prepare for upcoming continental and international commitments." He pointed out the "numerous benefits that the UAE team will gain, which is anticipating the Asian final stage competitions early next year, in addition to the matches they will play in the Egyptian capital before the tournament." Al-Qarqaoui praised the "efforts of the General Secretariat throughout the past period, represented by the Secretary-General, Brigadier Abdullah Shalabi," hoping that "the tournament will be the perfect conclusion to the Arab competitions this year."
