U.S. National Security Advisor John Kirby avoided speculating on "what Israel will do in Rafah due to the numerous varying reports." He affirmed that the Biden administration is engaged in detailed negotiations with Israel regarding the Rafah operation, expressing its concerns. He said, "We are working around the clock to secure the release of hostages in Gaza." He revealed that President Biden met with an American girl who had been held by Hamas and was released in November. He continued, "We have received commitments from Israel regarding the facilitation of humanitarian aid. We have noticed an increase in aid, particularly to northern Gaza, following President Biden's call with Netanyahu." Regarding Gaza, he stated, "Reports of mass graves in Gaza are extremely disturbing. Some crossings with northern Gaza have been opened, which is a positive step."
