Hamas Thanks Qatar for Sending Medicines to Gaza

Hamas official Osama Hamdan thanked Qatar on Saturday for sending medicines to the Gaza Strip "amid numerous threats to the lives" of Palestinians. In a press conference, Hamdan stated, "We care for the prisoners, we provide medicines as much as possible, but with the siege and the prevention of medicine, we will treat them with whatever medicines reach our people." He added, "What comes in terms of medicine will partly be for treating some prisoners, with priority given to the citizens of Gaza." He continued, "This situation has two problems; first, we believe our people need medicine and they deserve it more, and the second problem is the security aspect." Israeli Channel 12 reported that the transfer of medicines to Israeli detainees in Gaza has begun under an agreement with Qatar.
