The head of the Palestinian Authority's Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, Qaddura Fares, stated that "the prison administration transferred the leader Marwan Barghouti from solitary confinement in (Rimonim) prison to solitary confinement in (Ramle) prison again." He added, "This comes after the recent statements by the fascist minister Ben Gvir regarding his isolation, which is a new attempt to show off to the Israeli public, especially since these statements come about two months after he was transferred from (Ofer) prison to solitary confinement in (Ayalon-Ramle) and then to (Rimonim)."
Fares explained that "this transfer and isolation comes within the framework of targeting all prisoners after October 7, and the leadership of the national prisoners' movement through large-scale transfers and both collective and individual isolation, alongside systematic torture operations." He continued in a statement today, Sunday, that "the repeated transfers of leader Barghouti in solitary confinement, amid continued bans on lawyers visiting him, raise serious concerns for his life, especially as this coincides with direct and ongoing incitement against him in Israeli media."
Fares affirmed that "Barghouti's positions regarding his people's cause and destiny are steadfast, and targeting him with isolation measures, abuse, and assaults will not diminish his resolve and strong will for freedom and self-determination." He emphasized that "what is happening to leader Barghouti and what is being witnessed in prisons and detention centers necessitates that all international institutions and relevant local entities fulfill their responsibilities and urgently work to visit the prisons and stop all unprecedented measures and violations against prisoners that have been ongoing for decades."
