Incident Involving the Beirut Guard Brigade

The Public Relations Department in the Municipality of Beirut reported that at 17:20 on October 4, 2023, while a patrol from the Beirut Guard Brigade was carrying out a mission in the Sami Solh area, the patrol officers noticed a motorcycle carrying two individuals speeding. Just before reaching the patrol point, the motorcycle driver attempted to evade by swerving to the other side of the public road and collided with an SUV passing by. As a result, the occupants of the motorcycle fell to the ground, one of whom was carrying a firearm. The patrol officers immediately arrested him before he could draw his weapon. Meanwhile, his companion also brandished a firearm at the patrol officers but the officers managed to seize the weapon before it could be used. Upon searching the two individuals, seven narcotic pills were found in their possession. They were detained along with the unregistered motorcycle and the seized items, and handed over to the relevant authorities for legal action.

Additionally, the same patrol arrested two Syrian nationals: (A.Z.), born in 1999, and (B.B.), born in 2004, in downtown Beirut near Martyrs' Square, where they were riding an illegal motorcycle. Upon searching them, a quantity of drugs (including cannabis bags, crystal meth, tramadol pills, and other narcotics) was found. They were immediately handed over along with the motorcycle and the seized items to legal authorities for appropriate action.
