Fires Recur in Kurdistan and Government Faces Severe Criticism

Former member of the Kurdistan Parliament, Yasra Rjab, criticized the recurrence of fires in the region and the absence of safety measures, calling for the results of investigations to be made public. In an interview with "Baghdad Today," Rjab stated, "There is negligence on the part of the regional government regarding the recurrence of fires, with safety measures completely absent, which is why we see these incidents happening repeatedly in markets, commercial complexes, residential areas, and amusement cities." She added that "the government is required to quickly disclose the results of the investigations and that the committees formed should not just be ink on paper, as this issue is related to the lives of citizens who have not been compensated yet." Rjab noted that "the recurrence of these fires increases suspicions and confirms the government's negligence, which has failed to provide services to citizens and ensure a decent life for them, and is currently failing to protect them from fires."
