Figures from the Ministry of Transport reported by official media indicate that "more than 128 million passenger trips were made on the Chinese transport network during the New Year holiday, representing an increase of 78.4 percent from 2023 and 33.1 percent from 2022." The "Global Times" noted that "the number of passenger railway trips rose by 177.5 percent year-on-year, and air passenger trips jumped by 140.3 percent." The government stated: "The cold weather in large parts of the country did not prevent people from flocking to festivals and concerts, while group outings for families increased," adding that "interest in ice skating and playing in the snow surged in eastern, central, and southern China, as well as other areas."
