A fire broke out around six-thirty this morning in an orphanage in the town of Barja Arab (Akkar), with the causes still unknown. The Civil Defense personnel from the Bbaneen-Abdeh center worked to extinguish the flames and assisted in evacuating the residents along with a team from the Lebanese Red Cross, which treated three children injured in the fire. Two of the injured children were transferred to Abdullah Al-Rassi Government Hospital in Halba for treatment. The fire caused significant damage, destroying many beds and contents of the orphanage. Furthermore, investigations have been initiated by the relevant official authorities to determine the cause of the fire, while it is still unknown where the residents will be temporarily relocated until repairs are made.
