The United States plans to deploy additional infantry troops in Estonia in the coming weeks to bolster defenses on the eastern flank of NATO, according to defense officials from Estonia. The deployment consists of an American infantry unit, typically comprising between 80 to 250 soldiers, as stated by the Estonian Ministry of Defense. It is set to be accompanied by the HIMARS system, a high mobility artillery rocket system, as well as command equipment and its own control systems. For his part, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur stated, "This decision represents a significant enhancement of the regular U.S. military presence in Estonia and the Baltic states, reflecting the United States' steadfast commitment to the security of our region and greatly enhancing NATO's position."
