Judge Jouni Dismisses Preliminary Objections Submitted by the Orthodox Greek Archdiocese

The single penal judge in Beirut, Fatima Jouni, issued a ruling dismissing the preliminary objections submitted by the defendant, the Orthodox Greek Archdiocese (owner of Saint George's Hospital - Greeks and a property owned by the archdiocese as it holds the related license). The court imposed a fine of 30 million Lebanese pounds, following a lawsuit filed by Fawzi Mashlab, the father of the child Sophie, who suffered a medical error at the Greek Hospital that has left her bedridden for years. Judge Jouni deemed the objections submitted as unjustified and therefore requested to proceed with the case from the point it had reached. Lawyer Zahra Zayoun from the law firm of George Khoury and Ayman Jazini represented Fawzi Mashlab.
