Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamieh, received a delegation from the Engineering Regiment of the army, headed by the regiment commander, Brigadier General Roger Khoury, in his office at the ministry on Friday morning. The meeting was attended by the Director General of Roads and Buildings, Tonyous Boulos, the Director General of Urban Planning, Ali Ramadan, and several heads of departments and officials concerned with the file of roads and bridges in the ministry. They discussed the emergency plan related to roads and bridges that the ministry had developed and which was approved by the Council of Ministers to address any extraordinary circumstances in the country. Minister Hamieh welcomed the existing cooperation between the ministry and the army leadership on several relevant matters, noting that this also applies to the file of bridges and roads, especially since the Engineering Regiment of the Lebanese army has experience and expertise in this field. He reminded that this expertise had been evident during some extraordinary circumstances the country faced, such as the Israeli aggression in 2006 against Lebanese infrastructure, particularly roads and bridges. During the meeting, he emphasized that the extraordinary circumstances facing the nation require all of us to enhance cooperation and remain fully prepared and ready to confront them together.
