Biden Appoints Liz Grande as Special Humanitarian Envoy for the Middle East

The U.S. State Department announced in a statement that "President Joe Biden appointed Liz Grande today, Thursday, as the new special envoy for humanitarian affairs in the Middle East." Grande will replace David Satterfield. She currently serves as the President of the U.S. Institute of Peace, an independent institution. She has previously worked for the United Nations for over 25 years, during a career that included managing relief operations in Yemen, Iraq, and South Sudan.
