Arne Slot has taken a significant step towards becoming the head coach of Liverpool, as the Premier League club has agreed to pay about $11.7 million to Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam as compensation. British and Dutch media reported that the two clubs reached a verbal agreement on the compensation package, paving the way for the 45-year-old Slot to succeed German coach Jürgen Klopp after this season. While British media estimated the compensation at about 11 million euros, the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf stated that the figure might exceed $14 million. Notably, Arne Slot has two years remaining on his contract with Feyenoord Rotterdam. Klopp is leaving Liverpool after more than 8 years during which he won a full set of titles, including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
