Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea pointed out that "it has become clear that the position of Lebanon's friends who met in Doha, within the framework of the quintet committee last Monday, was reflected in a statement based on the Lebanese constitution, international resolutions, decisions from the Arab League, and the necessity of Lebanese sovereignty and reform as a priority for any presidential candidate and political authority. Consequently, this statement definitively undermines the attempts of some within the country, particularly the resistance axis, to rely on the stance of Lebanon's friends either to elect a candidate from the resistance or to gain unlawful advantages in order to end their obstruction of the presidential elections."
Geagea added, "It has also become clear that all of Lebanon’s friends who met in Doha last Monday are firmly convinced that the solution to the presidential crisis is clear and straightforward: the parliamentary blocs and figures must take responsibility and proceed to elect a president for the republic, as stipulated in the Lebanese constitution, and allow the constitutional mechanisms to follow their natural course, starting with the election of a new president, leading to the appointment of a prime minister, and culminating in the formation of the new government."
In his statement, Geagea said, "It is also evident that Lebanon's friends, at the strategic level, are convinced of the need for a functioning state in Lebanon, where its strategic decisions are made internally, and that all international resolutions should be implemented."
He continued, "From this perspective, we urge the resistance forces to stop wasting the precious time of the Lebanese by relying on the factor of time in hopes of changing equations, as this factor is no longer available for manipulation. Thus, we demand President Nabih Berri to quickly convene a session for presidential elections, with consecutive rounds, leading to the election of a president for the republic."
The head of the Lebanese Forces stated, "The resistance axis bears responsibility for everything the Lebanese people are currently suffering from poverty, disasters, and emigration, and it will bear even greater responsibility for each day it continues to obstruct the presidential elections."
