Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune confirmed on Saturday that the Sahara issue is "a just cause and decolonization," noting that "using reason instead of force and threats will guide the parties to a solution." Tebboune, in his regular meeting with local Algerian media, emphasized that "Algeria will not bow down, and those who seek to impose on us what they impose elsewhere are mistaken. Algeria has sacrificed millions of martyrs for sovereignty." He added, "Those who wish to provoke us will find us ready, and the lesson is clear in the history of the land of martyrs."
The Algerian president also confirmed that "Algeria will play its role in the Security Council in favor of our brothers and the Arab nation, and there is a near consensus for Algeria to hold a non-permanent position in the Security Council."
It is worth mentioning that the Sahara file represents a deep point of contention between Algeria and Rabat for decades, with Morocco proposing to grant it autonomy under its sovereignty, while the Polisario Front demands a referendum on its self-determination.
