The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Tuesday: "On December 25, 2023, members of the Deir al-Bidar checkpoint in the regional gendarmerie unit seized a stolen car, a 'Kia Rio', and returned it to its owner, while the culprits fled to an unknown location. Following thorough monitoring, the checkpoint members were able to detain them on January 11, 2024, aboard a passenger van on the Baalbek – Beirut road. They are identified as: H. Y. (born in 1995, Lebanese) and M. B. (born in 2003, Syrian) according to their statements. Upon searching them, tools used for car theft and a forged identity card were found in their possession. During interrogation, the first them admitted that they were the ones who had been in the stolen 'Kia Rio'. They were detained along with the seized items for necessary legal action against them, based on the orders of the competent judiciary."
