Gang Promoting Counterfeit Currency in Central Bekaa Arrested by Information Branch

After obtaining information regarding the activities of a gang promoting counterfeit currency in the town of Zahle and its surroundings, specifically targeting pharmacies, gas stations, and restaurants, the specialized units within the Information Branch identified the members of the gang as follows: A.A. (born in 2000, Syrian), W.B. (born in 2003, Lebanese), and M.G. (born in 2003, Lebanese).

On November 14 and 15, 2023, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the patrols from the Information Branch was able to arrest the first and second members in the town of Bar Elias, inside a black Mercedes vehicle without plates and with tinted windows, which was seized and determined to be used in their promotion activities. The third member was arrested in Majdal Anjar.

Upon searching them and the vehicle, a sum of two hundred counterfeit U.S. dollars was confiscated. During the investigation, they confessed to the charges regarding their involvement in promoting counterfeit currency (U.S. dollars) in pharmacies, gas stations, and restaurants in the areas of Zahle, Talabaya, Bar Elias, Al-Marj, and Deir Znon, using several vehicles, including the seized Mercedes.
