Lebanon's Civilizational Image: Grand Opening of the Asian Taekwondo Championship with Attendance of 4,000 Spectators

The Asian Taekwondo Championship for juniors and the Beirut Open was inaugurated, organized by the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation until September 13, at the Nohad Nawfal Sports Complex (Zouk Mikael), under the patronage of Lebanese Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, with approximately 4,000 spectators and participation from 39 countries. Present at the event were several dignitaries, including Colonel Tony Ibrahim representing the patron of the championships, MP Mark Daou, Najat Haddad representing MP Sheikh Farid Khazen, Dr. Raja Labaki representing the Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. George Kallas, lawyer François Saadeh representing the Lebanese Olympic Committee, ambassadors and consuls of participating countries, as well as representatives from various security and sports organizations.

The national anthem of Lebanon opened the ceremony, followed by a speech from the event's host, media figure George Sweidi, who welcomed attendees on behalf of Dr. Habib Zreifa, the President of the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation, highlighting the federation's commitment to overcoming challenges and organizing significant events despite the tough economic conditions in the country.

Dr. Habib Zreifa reiterated their determination not to give up and emphasized the importance of taekwondo in representing Lebanon honorably on international stages. He extended gratitude to General Joseph Aoun for his patronage.

Professor Lee Kyu Seok, the President of the Asian Taekwondo Federation, shared his happiness about being in Lebanon, praising the Lebanese federation's dedication. South Korean Ambassador Dr. Il Park expressed respect for Lebanon amid its challenging economic crisis, commending the federation's efforts.

Colonel Tony Ibrahim, expressing pleasure at attending on behalf of General Aoun, highlighted the championship as a celebration of sportsmanship and cultural exchange. He concluded by wishing success to all and thanking the Taekwondo Federation for organizing the events.

Dr. Zreifa presented commemorative shields to Colonel Ibrahim, Professor Seok, and the head of the "Kukkiwon" organization, while Professor Seok also reciprocated with a gift to Dr. Zreifa. The event concluded with an exciting performance by the renowned South Korean "Kukki" organization, thrilling and impressing the audience. Matches will take place daily starting at 9 AM.
