The head of the "Free Patriotic Movement," Deputy Gebran Bassil, stated in a social media post: "Last night, I visited Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi and congratulated him on his safe return. I briefed him on the consultative tour I conducted and its results. He encouraged me to continue the consultations, and we agreed that electing a president for the republic is the foundation for reconstituting power, the key to addressing crises, and stopping the disintegration of institutions. Any decision that contradicts the charter and the constitution is a blatant attack on the state and national partnership."

He added, "I assured the Patriarch of our readiness to commit to a charter of honor to support any president elected in an open election session if an agreement on a unifying name is not reached soon, if this helps to end the vacuum and stop the state's disintegration. We agreed that it is the duty of the Parliament to quickly end the presidential vacuum in accordance with the constitution."
