The Minister of Culture in the caretaker government, Muhammad Wissam Al-Murtada, arrived in Paris, heading the Lebanese official delegation participating in the 42nd General Conference of UNESCO. The delegation includes the Minister of Education in the caretaker government, Abbas Halabi, the President of the National Commission for UNESCO, Shouki Sasin, the Secretary-General of the committee, Hiba Neshaba, the Assistant Secretary-General of the committee, Ramzeh Jaber, the Minister's Advisor, Roni Al-Fa, Tamara Al-Zein, the Secretary-General of the National Council for Scientific Research, as well as members of the committee's secretariat and Chargé d'Affaires Nadim Al-Surati from Lebanon's permanent mission to UNESCO. Lebanon was honored with seat number one in this session, which Al-Murtada occupied this morning while participating in the opening of the conference activities. Al-Murtada is also expected to deliver a resonant speech at the conference next Thursday, which he prefaced with a statement in which he deemed that "intellectuals of the world and the relevant international cultural organizations must rise to the moral and humanitarian responsibility imposed by the genocide war being waged by Israel and its supporters against Gaza and its people."
