US Military: We Thwarted a Major Houthi Attack in the Red Sea Involving 15 Drones

The US Central Command announced on Saturday that America and its allies thwarted an attack by the Houthis in the Red Sea region. In a statement on "X," it said, "Between 4:00 AM and 6:30 AM (Sana'a time), the Houthis launched a large-scale drone attack in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden." The Central Command and allied forces assessed that the aircraft posed an imminent threat to commercial and US military vessels in the area. It added that "US Navy ships and aircraft, along with several allied ships and aircraft, successfully intercepted 15 one-way drones."

Earlier that day, the US military stated it conducted a self-defense strike against ship-targeting missiles mounted on two trucks in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. The US Central Command stated on "X," "At around 3:55 PM (Sana'a time), the Houthis launched two ship-targeting ballistic missiles from Yemen toward the Gulf of Aden at the MV Propell Fortune, a Singapore-flagged vessel owned and operated by a Singaporean company." It noted that there were no reports of injuries or damages and emphasized that "these actions are being taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer for the US Navy and commercial ships."
