Jordan's Foreign Minister: We Fear the Worst Based on All Indicators

Jordan's Foreign Minister and Minister of Expatriates Ayman Safadi expressed his concern over indicators suggesting that the war is heading towards a worse situation, amid the ongoing Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip. Safadi emphasized that the lack of global discourse on human rights reflects a duality in moral standards. He reiterated that there can be no security for anyone in the region "if Palestinians do not enjoy security," warning of the potential for the war to expand in the area.

Safadi stated that Jordan is working in clear coordination with Germany to stop the aggression being waged by the occupation on Gaza. In a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, he noted that the region is experiencing more violence, destruction, and conflict, all of which must cease, as despair spreads throughout an already suffering area. He also asserted that nothing justifies depriving the innocent in Gaza of water, electricity, and medicines, expressing regret that matters are not moving towards de-escalation despite all international efforts being made. Safadi again warned of the consequences of the continued assault on Gaza for the region, clarifying that the Palestinian issue cannot be marginalized and that the occupation cannot have security without the Palestinians achieving it.
