Arrest of Counterfeit Currency Dealer Operating in Mount Lebanon Areas

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "Information was received by the Information Division regarding an unidentified individual promoting counterfeit currency within the Mount Lebanon Governorate. Consequently, the specialized units within the division began their field and investigative procedures to identify and arrest the suspect. As a result of extensive inquiries and investigations, they were able to ascertain his identity; his name is B.R. (born in 1993, Palestinian), who has prior convictions for theft. Orders were issued for the division's patrols to pinpoint his location and monitor him in preparation for his arrest red-handed in coordination with the judiciary.

On March 9, 2024, after careful observation and surveillance, one of the division's patrols was able to apprehend him in the act while he was promoting the counterfeit currency in the Hazmieh area. Upon searching him, he was found in possession of $2,100 in counterfeit American currency, a piece of cannabis, a quantity of narcotic pills (Captagon - Benzxol), a cannabis cigarette, a cutter blade, and a mobile phone. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges regarding the promotion of counterfeit currency, which he obtained from the town of Brital. He also admitted to using drugs. Legal measures were taken against him, and he, along with the seized items, was referred to the relevant authority, based on the instructions of the competent judiciary."
