A report by the Israeli newspaper "Globes" revealed that Egypt possesses a massive and unprecedented number of armored vehicles and tanks, significantly exceeding those of Israel. Data from the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) for 2024 indicated that Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Iran are among the top 15 countries with the highest number of tanks and armored vehicles in the world, while Israel does not possess comparable numbers.
The military affairs editor of the Hebrew newspaper, Dean Shmuel Elmaz, stated that "Turkey leads the ranking in the Eastern Mediterranean with 11,702 armored vehicles (2,378 of which are tanks). In the global ranking, it stands fourth – behind the superpowers the United States, Russia, and China. Following Turkey, Egypt, a neighbor of Israel, ranks fifth globally with 10,389 armored vehicles, including 2,480 tanks."
Saudi Arabia ranks eighth globally (with 7,227 vehicles, including 1,085 tanks), while Iran rounds out the list of the top 15 countries in the world with 2,878 armored vehicles, but exceeds Saudi Arabia with 1,513 tanks (1,085 of which are tanks).
