Maroun Chammas, the head of the Oil Importing Companies Association, confirmed that the daily consumption of gasoline ranges between seven to eight million liters each working day, and the same figure applies to diesel. In an interview with "Voice of Lebanon," Chammas revealed that the available quantities are sufficient for about forty to forty-five days if we consider the amounts stored by consumers, factories, hospitals, supermarkets, and others. He pointed out that in the event of a war and the occurrence of a maritime and aerial blockade, there would be an issue regarding this matter; however, as long as the ships are arriving in Lebanon, there is no problem with the quantities.
Chammas noted that the oil sector is coordinating with all relevant ministries and security agencies and has informed them of the plan he has put in place to ensure the presence of sufficient fuel and diesel quantities among consumers and stored at stations, and that possible measures have been taken. He stated, "We must wait to see how things develop, and based on that, the plan will be adjusted or other measures will be taken." In response to a question regarding what other measures could be, he suggested that fuel could be delivered to Lebanon overland, as occurred in 2006.
