U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel expressed Washington's concern "regarding the allegations in a report by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) that its staff and others detained by Israeli forces in Gaza were subjected to abuse." Patel confirmed that "Washington will press Israel on the necessity of conducting a full investigation into the allegations concerning UNRWA staff after the report mentioned instances of severe beating and being forced to undress."
