The Grand Mufti of Lebanon, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, received a delegation from the Lebanese Kataeb Party headed by former minister Alan Hakim. Following the meeting, Hakim stated, "Our visit today to His Eminence the Mufti is to congratulate him on Eid al-Fitr, as well as to congratulate him on his selection as a member of the Islamic Fiqh Council recently held in Riyadh, which is a pride for Lebanon and the state as a whole."
He continued, "On another note, we discussed political matters and the work of the five-member committee, and we fully support the outcomes of this work. Also, politically, there was a confirmation regarding the selection and conclusion of the presidential vacuum issue, which has recently escalated in all aspects, especially with regard to state institutions. From this standpoint, a quick solution to the issue must be found, and there was a general preliminary agreement on sovereignty, with the legal weapon being the only way out of the current problem."
He added, "The conversation also touched on the humanitarian situation in Gaza concerning the Israeli aggression, which affects Lebanon, especially in the south, where it suffers daily from the wars of others on Lebanese land in general."
