Independent MP Ghassan Skaf officially announced his candidacy for the position of Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, confirming that "the candidacy represents a challenge to unify the opponents and is the first test for agreeing on a single name to confront the candidacy of MP Elias Bou Saab." He stated that "my nomination is not conditional on voting for President Nabih Berri, and I believe in the rotation of power."
In an interview with Voice of Lebanon, he emphasized that "his work strategy is clear, with key points focusing on the literal implementation of the parliamentary internal system and a full commitment not to close the mother of institutions, namely the Parliament, regardless of the circumstances, along with adopting electronic voting. Additionally, he proposed the establishment of a sectoral crisis cell for health, education, and living conditions to ensure the essentials for the Lebanese people, including electricity, water, fuel, and medicine."
Skaf considered it "essential to establish the references of the Lebanese state represented by its constitutional institutions and security agencies according to the Lebanese defense policy, as well as adopting a unified foreign policy emanating from the Council of Ministers in accordance with the constitution."
