Berri Receives Final Report on 2022 Elections

Today, Tuesday, Speaker of the House Nabih Berri received the final report on the 2022 parliamentary elections from the Head of the Electoral Supervisory Authority, Nadim Abdel Malek, and the members of the authority, in accordance with the legal requirement to submit the report to the relevant official authorities. Additionally, Berri met at the second presidential location in Ain al-Tineh with Democratic Gathering member and MP Bilal Abdullah, who indicated that "the people's pain has escalated to an unbearable level in this country, necessitating extraordinary measures in light of a paralyzed state and a budget that will not be able to bear this burden as it once did."

After the meeting, Abdullah stated: "The suffering of the Lebanese people in health and pharmaceutical security is worsening day by day, so I briefed the president on the proposal formulated by us and sought his support and endorsement, of course, before it takes its natural course in the specialized committees in the House of Representatives. He expressed comfort and readiness to assist in passing the law as quickly as possible due to its positive implications."

He added: "We hope all Lebanese blocs will assist us in this file; we are ready and open to discussing all details, additions, voting, and evaluation. However, the fundamental principle is that some social segments contribute to health coverage for the Lebanese people. We encouraged President Berri to proceed with this proposal, and I believe we will also discuss it in the House of Representatives. The discussion also addressed plans for social security, and we exchanged views on some matters that should be expedited so that this fund can resume covering the insured."

Berri also reviewed the general situation and the latest political developments, particularly regarding the presidential election, during his meeting with the Dean of the Maronite Council, former Minister Wadie Khazen, who left without making a statement.
