Microsoft has officially launched the "Windows" app for various Apple devices, in addition to computers and web browsers. The new app serves as a central platform that allows users to run Windows on another computer, or a virtual computer through the cloud computing service "Microsoft Azure," as well as operate Microsoft 365 applications and "Dev Box" developer services, among others.
The app can be used on many different devices and operating systems, including iPhones, iPads, Mac computers, as well as desktop and laptop PCs running Windows itself, with plans for an Android release coming soon. The app can also be run through a web browser on computers without the need to download and install it, as stated by the company on its official website.
**Customizable Home Screen**
The Windows app features a customizable home screen that provides access to Windows and various Microsoft services and remote computers from one location. The app allows users to log in with a single Microsoft account or multiple accounts, with the ability to switch between them. Additionally, it offers various options such as support for multiple screens, control over screen resolution, and peripherals like printers, cameras, and speakers.
Microsoft states that the connection through the app is completely secure, noting that the app is still in the beta phase and may be adjusted before the final release. The new Windows app is considered a step towards transforming its systems and applications to operate in the cloud, making them available for devices that do not run the Windows operating system. Previous reports indicated that Microsoft is working on developing a version of the upcoming Windows 12 that relies on cloud-based software and services.
