A horrific traffic accident occurred this evening, Friday, at the Zahle roundabout, where a truck collided with a large passenger bus. Initial reports indicate that 26 people were injured and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, while some hospitals in Zahle have requested blood donations from all types. Twenty-one injuries were reported due to the traffic accident on the Zahle highway, emphasizing public safety in the area.
Additionally, the accident caused a power outage in the area due to damage to one of the high voltage power line poles from the collision. The Governor of Bekaa, Judge Kamal Abou Joude, contacted the General Director of Zahle Electricity Company, Engineer Asaad Nakad, for immediate intervention to repair the damage caused to the high voltage pole, in order to preserve public safety.
Abou Joude also followed up on the incident with the Commander of the Bekaa Regional Forces, Brigadier Rabi Majayez, the head of the Civil Defense Center in Bekaa, Fayez Shakiyeh, and the regional director of the Lebanese Red Cross in Bekaa, Joseph Daoud. According to the National News Agency, all passengers were from the city of Sidon and were elderly.
