An Iraqi government official confirmed today, Monday, that 13 border areas in eastern Iraq are preparing early for a rainy weather system. The acting mayor of the Mandali district, Mazen Al-Khazai, told "Baghdad Today" that "Mandali and 13 other border areas in eastern Iraq are generally preparing for a weather system according to the weather forecasts and their repeated alerts, which will begin next Wednesday." He added that "all predictions indicate that the rainfall rate will exceed 30 mm, meaning that the likelihood of heavy runoff is very high," noting that "the crisis cell has taken the necessary precautions and has informed the border villages to be cautious and alert for the weather after Wednesday in anticipation of any emergency." It is worth mentioning that weather specialists confirmed that Iraq will be affected by cold weather, leading to heavy rains starting from the night of the 29th of this month and ending on the 3rd of the next month, with heavy rainfall expected on May 2nd, particularly in the central and southern regions, especially in Basra, and the northern areas will also be affected.
