Jaja Meets Rudakov: To Safeguard Lebanon from the Danger of a Major War

The leader of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Jaja, met with Russian Ambassador Alexander Rudakov in Maarab to discuss the latest political developments in Lebanon, as well as regional and international issues, starting from the Russian-Ukrainian war to the presidential election file, the Gaza conflict, and its repercussions on Lebanon. This discussion took place amidst the deterioration of the security situation in the south, which is racing against international efforts to prevent Lebanon from a destructive war. Present at the meeting were Deputy Ambassador Maxim Romanov, Cultural and Sports Attaché Andrei Dvorinikov, former Minister and head of the party's foreign relations department Richard Kiyumjian, and party official Tony Darwish.

During the meeting, Jaja emphasized the necessity of implementing Resolution 1701 "to safeguard Lebanon from the risk of a major war on its southern borders." He also explained regarding the Shebaa Farms and Kfarshouba Hills that "it would be more beneficial to direct a joint memorandum from both the Lebanese and Syrian sides to the United Nations to consider these lands as Lebanese, which would then obligate Israel to withdraw from them in accordance with Resolution 425."

Reiterating his position, he stated, "What is happening in Gaza is completely unacceptable, and the only solution lies in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state." Jaja questioned, "How is Hezbollah assisting the Palestinians in Gaza? Can anything worse happen there than what has already occurred? What have its operations across the border produced other than exposing Lebanon and its people to destruction and death?"
