US: We Asked Israel for Information on Reports of Detaining Al Jazeera Correspondent

U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel confirmed at a press conference today that the country is aware of reports stating that the Israeli army detained a reporter working for Al Jazeera. He added that Washington requested information from Israel regarding the incident. The Qatar-based network accused Israeli forces of attacking its correspondent Ismail Al-Ghul in Gaza while he was working, stating that his equipment was also destroyed. The Israeli army could not be reached for comment on the incident at this time.
