President Joe Biden has appointed Senator Carol Moseley Braun as the head of the U.S. Agency for African Affairs. Braun assumed her role yesterday in Washington, D.C., becoming the first woman to lead the Board of the U.S. African Development Foundation, which has played a strategic role in supporting and accompanying various development programs completed for African populations. The agency's work is framed within President Biden's vision to enhance U.S.-Africa relations. Braun is a friend of Lebanon, particularly the city of Tripoli, where she visited her friend Omar Harfouch a year ago and accompanied him on a stroll through the local neighborhoods to assess the potential for future social upliftment. Together, they held a conference for the Republic of Lebanon's third initiative. The American senator visited Harfouch at his home in Paris a week before assuming her new responsibilities.
