Meeting Between Geagea and Shia: Dialogue as Proposed by the Opposition is

Lebanese Forces party leader, Samir Geagea, stated that the path to a solution begins with electing a president for the republic, emphasizing that the restructuring of power and filling vacant positions "should occur through the appropriate constitutional mechanisms under the new president's responsibility, while prolonging the vacancy leads to further collapses in the state's structure."

Geagea also expressed his astonishment at the call for dialogue "from those obstructing the presidential elections." He noted that if these individuals had adhered to the constitutional mandates and had not left the parliamentary session to sabotage the quorum, Lebanon would today enjoy a new president who could strategize on how to place the country on the path to recovery.

During his meeting with the United States Ambassador to Lebanon, Dorothy Shea, in Maarab, Geagea explained that the kind of dialogue proposed by the opposition is "a distraction and a deprivation for the Lebanese of the opportunity to elect a president, which was nearly realized in the June 14 session that they left to obstruct."

He added, "From here, it is their duty to today call for an election session instead of dialogue tables, and hold successive rounds, just as occurred in the election of the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives last January, considering this the only way to produce a president for the republic."

Geagea congratulated Shea on her remarks before the U.S. Congress, thanking her for the support of the United States for Lebanon, particularly for the Lebanese army and internal security forces, wishing for the continuation of this support until Lebanon emerges from its crisis and moves towards recovery.
