Iran announced today, Tuesday, the launch of long-range ballistic missiles from a warship for the first time, marking a new step in the development of its military program. Iranian television, which broadcast images of the operation, stated that a ship belonging to the Revolutionary Guard "successfully launched ballistic missiles for the first time" while located in the Oman Gulf in the Indian Ocean. Revolutionary Guard commander Hussein Salami said, "A long-range ballistic missile was successfully launched from a ship." He added, "Our ships can be anywhere in the oceans. There is no safe place for forces that want to threaten our security." Iranian television clarified that the two missiles launched from the martyr Mahdavi ship "have a range of at least 1,700 kilometers" and landed in a desert area in central Iran. The Revolutionary Guard also announced Tuesday that it conducted a simulated exercise for an attack with ground-to-ground missiles on the Palmachim Air Base in southern Tel Aviv. According to Iranian television, Palmachim is "the main reception base for F-35 aircraft" of the Israeli army.
