A Turkish diplomatic source revealed to Reuters that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan requested his U.S. counterpart Antony Blinken during a phone call on Sunday to "use Washington's influence on Israel to stop its attacks on Gaza and the West Bank." The source continued, stating that "Fidan informed Blinken that the situation in Gaza and the West Bank is worsening due to Israeli attacks." He added that "Israel should be compelled to sit at the negotiating table to discuss a two-state solution after achieving a comprehensive ceasefire." The source further noted that "the two men also discussed Sweden's request to join NATO, which has not yet been ratified by the Turkish parliament, and Ankara's request to purchase F-16 fighter jets from the United States."
