A ceremony was held to honor the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, at the residence of businessman Mohammed Abdul Qader Sano in Abadiyah, in the mountain, attended by numerous figures.
The event began with a speech from the host, Mohammed Abdul Qader Sano, who emphasized that “Dar al-Fatwa is a unifying authority for Muslims and Lebanese, a voice committed to unity, moderation, and coexistence, and a beacon of knowledge and unity.”
Mufti Daryan expressed his gratitude to the host, stating, “We will not allow Dar al-Fatwa to be infiltrated or targeted under false pretenses; we will vigilantly guard against anyone who attempts to undermine its Islamic and national mission. It is our religious and national duty to safeguard and preserve Dar al-Fatwa, the house for Muslims and Lebanese.”
He added, “Dar al-Fatwa has religious and national constants that it does not deviate from, maintained by the Muftis over past eras. We continue on its path and no one should outbid us. Dar al-Fatwa is a historical and inclusive institution, uniting Muslims and Lebanese in comprehensive unity. Anyone betting on a conflict between Dar al-Fatwa and the government is destined to lose, as both have the same principles. Those attempting to damage the good relationship between the government and Dar al-Fatwa are deluded and weak. Dar al-Fatwa will remain steadfast in its moderate, balanced approach, and no one can bypass its open and cooperative role with all segments of society. It has historically played a significant role in bringing Lebanese together and promoting national values, its role remaining pioneering in strengthening Islamic and national unity, especially as we face a significant phase in Lebanon’s history. Our discourse has always been, and will remain, a national one, transcending sectarian and denominational terms.”
He concluded, “The state is the sole guarantor of restoring stability and security to Lebanon. We must support the state institutions and rally around them, which requires us to remain united, loving, and cooperative, avoiding personal interests and selfishness.”
