Ethiopia celebrated the 13th anniversary of the start of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam's construction and released recent images showing the progress of the latest developments at the dam. Official government accounts revealed the stages of the dam's construction, which it described as a beacon of progress on the Blue Nile, confirming that it began with 10.65 million cubic meters of concrete in its foundations. The middle passage has reached a height of 637 meters and is slowly nearing its final peak of 640 meters.
Additionally, it stated: "The construction of the dam has reached approximately 95% of the total project," announcing that it will continue the fifth filling, expected to reach 64 billion cubic meters of total capacity. According to Ethiopian government figures, the construction requires around 50 billion Ethiopian birr to complete, indicating that for the concrete filling works, 10.65 million cubic meters of concrete have been completed, with 99.2% of the civil works of the dam finished, 97% of the electromechanical works, and 90% of the water transfer and electricity control systems completed.
