Citizen's Bag Stolen in Verdun and Suspect Arrested

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division announced that on 22-10-2023, a citizen reported that an unknown individual stole his bag containing his identification papers, an amount of 4,230 dollars, 9 million Lebanese pounds, and personal items, in the Verdun area of Beirut, and then fled to an unknown location. Following this, the Internal Security Forces initiated measures at the scene of the theft and its surroundings. As a result of information gathering and technical follow-up, the Information Branch identified a suspect within less than 48 hours, revealed to be B.G. (born in 1971, Lebanese). Orders were given for patrols to locate and arrest him in coordination with the competent judiciary. On 25-10-2023, after surveillance, one of the patrols managed to arrest him in the Al-Masaytbeh area of Beirut. Upon searching him and his residence, an amount of 1,800 US dollars, 5 million Lebanese pounds, a small leather wallet, and two war pistols were seized. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him, stating that the seized amounts and wallet in his house were stolen. The seized money and wallet were returned to the plaintiff, and legal actions were taken against the detained individual, who along with the seized items was referred to the relevant authority, per the instructions of the competent judiciary.
