Fayyad Reviews the Role of the Greek Regulatory Authority in Athens

As part of the official visit of the Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water in the caretaker government, Walid Fayyad, to Greece, a lengthy meeting was held at the headquarters of the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Water, and Waste in Athens. The meeting was attended by the accompanying official delegation and Chargé d'Affaires of the Lebanese Embassy in Greece, Ambassador Ghadi Khoury. During the meeting, the head of the authority, Athanasios Dagoumas, along with the Vice Presidents for Energy and Water, provided a detailed presentation about the role of the regulatory authority and the laws and regulations governing its work in managing the vital sectors it oversees. They also highlighted the significant progress made in introducing transparency to the energy sector through the adoption of automation and digitization to enable the provision of all services and information to citizens and investors transparently via websites.

It was agreed to provide the Lebanese side with all documents and information related to the process of obtaining licenses for renewable energy production, as well as to exchange experiences with the Electricité du Liban and investment institutions in the water sector. An agreement was reached to supply Lebanon with the mechanism for obtaining licenses for renewable energy production.
