UEFA Bans Legia Warsaw Fans

UEFA announced on Wednesday the ban of Legia Warsaw fans from attending five upcoming away matches due to fan unrest prior to their game against Aston Villa in the UEFA Conference League last month. Authorities barred Legia fans from entering the match in Birmingham on November 30 after clashes with police outside the stadium. The Premier League team filed a complaint with UEFA regarding the behavior of the Polish team's supporters.

UEFA's Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Committee decided to prevent Legia from selling tickets to their fans for five upcoming European away matches because of crowd disturbances, throwing objects, and setting off fireworks. UEFA also imposed a fine of €100,000 (approximately $107,880) on the club and ordered them to contact Aston Villa within 30 days to settle the damages caused by their supporters.

Additionally, UEFA fined the Ukrainian Football Association €20,000 due to racist behavior from their fans during the match against Italy in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, and partially closed their stadium for the next home match in the continental competitions.
