After historic floods hit Oman and the UAE in recent days—the likes of which have not been seen in the region for nearly 75 years—several areas in Wadi Hadhramaut, Yemen, witnessed heavy rainfall early this Wednesday, causing torrents in the valleys and roads. Meteorological centers warned of the danger of severe flooding in regions affected by the atmospheric depression in the coming hours, especially in Hadhramaut and Al-Mahra provinces in eastern Yemen.
The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued a warning today of varying intensity thunderstorms that may reach heavy levels in the deserts, plateaus, and coasts of Shabwa, Hadhramaut, and Al-Mahra provinces, as well as parts of Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhale, and the highlands of Lahij, Abyan, Al-Bayda, and Ma'rib.
It was also expected to see scattered rain in parts of Hajja, Al-Mahwit, Amran, and Sana'a provinces, with fog forming over the mountainous and inland plateaus and rough seas along the eastern coasts. Citizens in areas forecasted to experience rainfall were advised to exercise caution regarding thunderstorms, strong descending winds, hail, and to avoid being in the valleys and flood channels during and after rainfall.
