After the European Union postponed the implementation of the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), which requires visitors from most non-EU countries to obtain prior authorization for travel, Brazil has also delayed the introduction of its new visa system for travelers from three countries: the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Starting from April 10, 2025, citizens of Australia, Canada, and the United States will need a visa to enter the country. On a positive note, those traveling for tourism or cruise purposes can apply for an electronic visa online, instead of visiting a consulate. The cost of the electronic visa is $80.90, and it will be valid for 10 years.
Proof of income will involve showing the last three bank statements from a checking or savings account, or the last six pay stubs. Travelers will need to demonstrate a minimum of $2,000 in their account. Those who do not meet the requirements will need to have a sponsor sign on their behalf.
