Appointment of Blasquiat as UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has announced the appointment of Jeanine Plasschaert as the UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon. This comes as she completes her term this month as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Iraq and Head of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq. Plasschaert succeeds Joanna Froniteka, whom the Secretary-General thanked for her commitment and leadership of the office. Plasschaert has held the position of Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Iraq and Head of UNAMI since 2018.
