"Masdar" in the UAE Aims to Develop Solar Power Project

The UAE News Agency reported that "Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company" intends to develop a 150-megawatt solar power project in Angola to provide renewable energy for approximately 90,000 homes and support economic growth, including job creation. This announcement came during the United Nations Climate Change Conference "COP28" hosted by the UAE. The agency noted that "Masdar" signed a concession agreement with the Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water to build and operate a solar power project in the Kuibungo area of southern Angola. The agency did not provide details on the potential costs of the project, which is part of a broader commitment made by Masdar this year to develop renewable energy projects with a capacity of five gigawatts in Angola, Uganda, and Zambia. Sultan Al Jaber, COP28 President, was quoted as saying, "Africa has what it takes to become a major source of renewable energy in the world." He added, "The UAE stands alongside our friends in Africa as we strive to secure a just energy transition."
